Nettfoto is a one-man company run by Frank S. Andreassen and was established in March 2000 and is located in Harstad, Norway. The archive is extensive and includes thousands of Northern Lights images. Parts of the archive are available in the online database. By browsing the gallery you will gain an insight into the magic light and land of Northern Norway. A great part of the images are of scenery and outdoor activities from places like Hinnøya, Vesterålen and Lofoten.
Nettfoto works closely with several professional partners and delivers images for different needs, i.e. production of books, postcards, advertising and articles. The photographs in the archive are 35mm positive film, scanned by a Nikon Coolscan V ED scanner, and digital images from Canon EOS 1D MKII and Canon EOS 5D MKII cameras. Images in jpg-format are sent to customers by email. Larger files (i.e. TIFF or RAW) can be downloaded from server.
I began to shoot when I bought my first SLR back in 1994, a Nikon F801s wich was later replaced by a Canon EOS 1V HS. I went digital in 2004 with a Canon EOS 1D MKII wich is still in use in addition to the Canon EOS 5D MKII. I especially like to photograph nature, outdoor activities, low-light scenics and The Northern Lights. I graduated from engineering college (data and electronics) and have no training in photography or art so everything is self-taught, but I have read many magazines and books about photography and I have taken an appropriate number of pictures over the years. Great interest also helps to improve the quality.
My favourite location is Lofoten which is only a couple of hours drive from Harstad. Lofoten is one of Norway's most visited tourist areas and the photographic opportunities are endless. Vesterålen is also a nice area with many wonderful photographic opportunities. Apart from photographing I like to exercise and spend time on Flex (gym), as well as skiing in the winter and mountainbiking in the summer.
