    The northern auroral oval crosses over northern Norway. This enables us to see the Northern Lights from September to late April. If the sun is active and the sky is clear there is a chance to experience the Northern Lights several days a week.

    In the summer the sun never sets from the end of May to the end of July, lighting up the arctic sky both day and night. The sun vanishes below the horizon from December to the midle of Janurary. But in the Polar Night period, the darkness provides its own dramatic light.

    Norway has the worlds highest concentration of fjords, and one inviting town after another is revealed along the length of the coast. Between the towns there are hundreds of fishing villages and idyllic places.

    The landscape varies from endless gently rolling high plateaus, clad with birch forests, to sharp peaks, ravines and glaciers. In the east you find the border mountains with rounded peaks, wide vistas towards distant horizons, untouched lakes rich in fish and wetlands rich in birdlife.

    Troms is found a little more than 2000km/1300mi south of the North Pole, and some 2-400 km/130-250mi inside the Arctic Circle. Temperatures range from +7°C to 25°C in summer and from +3°C to -20°C in winter (down to -40°C in inland areas).
